MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Bharat Scouts & Guides is constituted of

(a) General Members;

(I) Beneficiaries who are mostly in the age group 5-25; and
(ii) Adult leaders.

(b) Life Members;

(c) Ordinary members;

(d) Special Members; and

(e) The Bharat Scouts & Guides Fellows

How to become a fellow of Bharat Scouts & Guides?

1. The applicant must promise to subscribe to the fundamentals of the Movement.

2. Those institutions/individuals who are willing to commit only upto Rs.10,000/- can be made Associate Members of the Bharat Scouts & Guides Foundation. This amount will have to be paid in one installment.

3. Those institutions/individuals who are willing to commit up to Rs.25,000/- can be made Affiliate Members of Bharat Scouts & Guides Foundation. This amount can be paid in two equal installments.

4. Those institutions/individuals who are willing to commit upto Rs.50,000/- can be made full-fledged Fellowship Members of the Bharat Scouts & Guides Foundation. This amount can be paid in five equal installments of Rs.10,000/- each.

5. It will be open to an Associate Member to apply for the Affiliate Membership of the Bharat Scouts & Guides Foundation by paying balance amount of Rs.15000/- in lump sum. Similarly, it will be open to an Affiliate Member of Bharat Scouts & Guides Foundation to apply for Fellowship of the Foundation by paying the balance amount of Rs.25,000/- in two installments.

MEMBER CENSUS:

There shall be a Scout Wing and a Guide Wing at all levels of the Association. There shall be no common membership of boys and girl, in pack, Flock, Troop, Company, Crew, Team. In other words Pack, Troop and Crew are meant for boys whereas Flock, Company and Team shall consist of girls.

Through separate, perfect co-operation, harmony and cordiality shall pre-vail between the Scout Wing and the Guide Wing. Similarly training for boys and girls and adults shall be separately conducted. "Aims, Policy, Rules and Organisation" Part II deals with Scout Wing and Part III deals with Guide Wing.

The Bharat Scouts & Guides has got the total membership of more than 3.7 million (2.4 million Scouts and 1.3 million Guides)

Membership Awards:

A. Associate Members will be presented a Bronze Medallion in recognition of his/her services and contribution to the Movement. This will be conferred by the National Commissioner of Bharat Scouts & Guides.

B. Affiliate Members will be presented a Silver Medallion in recognition of his/her services and contribution to the Movement. This will be conferred by the National President of Bharat Scouts & Guides.

C. Fellowship Members will be presented a Gold Plated Medallion by the President of India at the time of presentation of National Awards during Rashtrapati Scout/Guide Rally.

Affiliate & Fellowship Members will be on the list of invitees for all National Jamborees and other important National Functions.

In a situation where the payment is being made by the individual in installment but complete payment has not been made in the life time of payee, the legal heir of the person would be able to obtain the Fellowship by paying the remaining installments/amount.

If the prospective Bharat Scouts & Guides Fellowship Member happens to depart from the world before receiving the Award even though full payment has been made by him/her, his/her wife/husband or other legal heir will be able to receive the award on his/her behalf posthumously. All the facilities extendable under the scheme, to the payee, will be given to the legal heir who received the Medallion on behalf of the payee. The membership, once conferred, will be nontransferable.

Donations to Bharat Scouts & Guides are exempted from payment of Income Tax under section 80G. The amount so collected will be kept as a Corpus Fund and National Executive Committee will be the Supreme Body for taking decision about utilization of the interest amount received from Bharat Scouts & Guides Foundation Fund.
