to Friendship Caravan 2008, Mainland,China.
Dear
Sir/Madam,
The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association is holding
Friendship Caravan 2008 from 20th to 27th July in
Mainland, China.
The Tour Programme will undertake guided travel to four
main cities in the South Eastern Province of People’s Republic of China.
The participants will also be given the opportunity to
study the recent history and local development, and experience local Culture.
We are looking forward to the participation of members
from your state.

The
following particulars in this connection are given below:
Theme: Friendship Caravans combines
programs with activities and visits where tour participants can meet Chinese
people, experience local culture and interact with their unique environment.
Duration: 8 days from 20th (Sunday),
to 27th (Sunday) July 2008 ( the day before and after the trip in
China are not included).
Program
Highlight: Xiamen, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou are the
sub-provincial cities in Fujian Province. Fuzhou is the Provincial Capital in
Fujian Province. Programmes and activities may include the followings:
1.
A
talk will be given by Xiamen Environmental Bureau.
2.
Tour
Gulangyu, also known as Piano Island, which is a popular, peaceful gateway with
amazing views of the city.
3.
View
Jingmen Island and Taiwan Strait from Xiamen Island.
4.
Learn
the history of Opium War in Fuzhou.
5.
Visit
to various Museums such as Tea Museum, Sea Transport Museum, Fujian and Taiwan
Museum, Ship Building Museum in Fuzhou, Quanzhou and Zhangzhou.
6.
Tour
Volcano Beach in Zhangzhou.
7.
Tour
Tulou in Zhangzhou. Tulou has enclosed buildings, mostly square or circular in
configuration, with a very thick earth wall (up to 6 feet thick) and wooden
frame, from three to five-story high, housing up to 80 families. Some of the
earth buildings were built a few hundred years ago.
8.
Open
day to interact with local students in Xiamen.
9.
Visit
to local college in Xiamen.
10.
Farewell
Party.
Charges: US$
650/- Indian Rupees 26000/- approx. including:-
1.
3-night
accommodation in Girl Guides Campsites including breakfast in Hong Kong (1
night before the trip and 2 nights after touring in China).
2.
Air
fare from Hong Kong to Mainland China, and return to Hong Kong.
3.
Accomodation,
meals and transportation in Mainland China.
4.
Local
tour in Hong Kong.
Air fare: India
to Hong Kong and back Rs 24000/- Approx.
Preparation of Overseas Open Day to interact with the local Chinese Students
Participants. In Xiamen: prepare one performance and materials for exhibition
about your own country and association.
Weather: Sub Tropical Climate, temperature ranges from 28.C to 32.C.
Other Information: Languages: Cantonese, Putonghua & English.
Visa Required: Applicant should make own
arrangement to apply for a visa to China and to Hong Kong where necessary. The
fee charged above does not include visa application fee.
Caution
Money: Rs.3000/- (to be deposited at National
Headquarters) or Send Demand Draft in favour of Director, Bharat Scouts &
Guides Payable at New Delhi.
