National Strategic Planning
Review Workshop was held at National Headquarter from 14th to 18th
April 2008. The members of Asia Pacific Region Mr. Abdullah Rasheed, Regional
Director World Scout Bureaus/Asia Pacific Region Dr. Nighat Arshad
Vice-Chairman WAGGGS Asia Pacific Region Mrs. Tek Noor Muhammad Member Training
Pool/APR, Mr. Prassanna, Director Administration & Research had come to
India to hold the meet with their expert opinion, suggestion &
recommendations.
The Workshop was inaugurated by
Hon’ble Shri L.M. Jain, National Commissioner BS&G India on 14.4.08 at
10A.M. The distinguished participants were Secretaries/Joint Secretaries/SOCs
from 17 States of India. The Schedule was fixed in advance by Mr. Prassanna
& the Workshop continued on that line. Not a single minute was wasted in
between and the participants made sincere effort to contribute their valuable
ideas with past experience to bring some changes as per the need of the young
people in a rapidly changing environment. For most of the participants it was
for the first time, they were attending the Planning Review Workshop-in that
case it was not only a novel experience for them but also informative,
interesting and thought provoking to a large extent.
This National Strategic Planning
Review Workshop has remained the most important as this was the first of its
kind when the members of WOSM and WAGGGS had joined together to hold the
Planning Review Workshop in a country. For India’s Scout/Guide Movement this
will remain a historical Workshop. The centenary of Scouting may start with
high hopes and ensure that this plan would yield concrete and positive result.
